Bachelor of Science in Business and Entrepreneurship

In line with the Open University of Kenya philosophy, the Bachelor of Science in Business and Entrepreneurship offers a practical-oriented learning experience for all. The programme is unique in that prior learning is used to create, run and grow enterprises. Learners will gain sought-after critical skills such as resilience, ethical and moral practices, networking, self-efficacy, critical and strategic thinking and leadership. By learning through doing, learners will thrive in solving and overcoming social, economic and geographical barriers, and develop essential entrepreneurial and innovative skills which include the realization of business opportunities and the creation of innovative solutions. The programme is designed to develop entrepreneurial competencies in individuals through functions such as identification of business opportunities, creating business plans, strategic leadership, and creativity to accelerate innovativeness. The important contribution of Business and Entrepreneurship to the economy is closely related to venture formations, green entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial growth, self-efficacy and capability, and value creation. The programme is in line with the bottom-up economic model which focuses on inclusivity and a creative economy, and the need to help learners acquire the competencies for self-employment with the main aim to inculcate an entrepreneurial spirit.
