Professional biography

Dr Beth N. Kiratu is a Senior Lecturer in Pure Mathematics and Acting Dean of the School of Science and Technology at the Open University of Kenya. She holds a PhD and an MSc in Pure Mathematics and a First Class Honours BSc in Mathematics (Statistics major), all from the University of Nairobi. With more than 13 years of university teaching experience, she teaches and develops courses in calculus, linear algebra, real and functional analysis, topology, group theory, geometry, differential equations, and mathematics for data science and computer science. Her research focuses on operator theory in Hilbert spaces, spectral theory, functional analysis, and related computational models. She supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research and has contributed to peer-reviewed publications on quasi-parahyponormal, contraction, projection, posinormal, and k-potent operators. Dr Kiratu also provides academic leadership in curriculum development, digital teaching, online assessment, quality assurance, and postgraduate research support. She serves on the STACK Africa Steering Committee and has helped advance technology-enhanced STEM teaching and assessment. Her professional and community service includes leadership in the Kenya Mathematical Society and the Kenyan Women in Mathematical Sciences Association, as well as organizing regional mathematics schools, conferences, and initiatives that promote women's participation in STEM.
