Graduate Student Supervision Application Open Due: 4th December, 2025

Roles & Responsibilities of Supervisors

  1. Provide academic and research supervision to Masters and PhD candidates.
  2. Guide candidates in proposal development, research design, data collection, analysis and thesis writing.
  3. Mentor candidates through virtual supervision on OUK's LMS and approved platforms.
  4. Ensure adherence to OUK's Graduate Studies Policy, research ethics and quality standards and other University policies including timelines.
  5. Provide timely feedback and progress reports as per institutional guidelines. 
  6. Support preparation for thesis defense and publication of research outputs.

Qualifications for a PhD supervisor

  1. An earned PhD in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  2. At least three (3) peer-reviewed publications in the last five years.
  3. Strong digital mentoring and online engagement skills to effectively support learners in virtual environments.
  4. Familiarity and prior experience with online or virtual supervision will be an added advantage.

Qualifications for a Masters supervisor

  1. PhD in a relevant field OR Master’s degree with significant research/ professional experience in specialized areas and   demonstration   of supervision of Masters candidates to completion.
  2. At least two (2) peer-reviewed publications in the last five years.
  3. Strong digital mentoring and online engagement skills to effectively support learners in virtual environments.
  4. Familiarity and prior experience with online or virtual supervision will be an added advantage.

  1. Cover letter indicating area(s) of specialization.
  2. Updated CV highlighting supervision experience and publications.
  3. Evidence of publications (DOI links or copies).
  4. Recommendation letters from two referees familiar with the applicant's research and supervision records.
