OUK, The Open University (UK), and KEMRI Strengthen Academic Ties

A team from OUK, led by DVC Planning, Prof. Christopher Chepken, DVC Academics, Prof. Carolyne Omulando, and Registrar Academics, Dr. Catherine Kagucia, along with some academic staff—including Dr. Evans Mogeni, Dr. James Onyango, Dr. Ann Njagi, Dr. Choge, Ms. Best Wanjala and Ms. Elizabeth Kalekye—hosted a courtesy visit from Dr. Charlotte Cross, Senior Lecturer and Head of Development Studies at The Open University, UK. She was accompanied by a team from KEMRI, led by Dr. Rose Bosire, Principal Clinical Research Scientist and Coordinator,  Dr. Mercy Karimi Njeru, Principal Research Scientist at CPHR-KEMRI and Lead of the ICCA-Kenya Project, as well as Dr. Veronica Manduku, Principal Clinical Research Scientist and Radiologist at KEMRI's Centre for Clinical Research.

The discussions centred on fostering academic and research collaborations, sharing best practices in the delivery of open learning in higher education contexts, with a focus on addressing regional educational challenges through inclusive and accessible educational opportunities. In addition, OUK and KEMRI considered collaboration opportunities in the area of health sciences programmes and research. 

The three parties committed to expediting the establishment of long-term partnerships. 

This meeting successfully established key contacts and laid a strong foundation for future collaborations between OUK, the Open University (UK), and KEMRI.
