Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement ICT policies for strategic library leadership.
  2. Lead section planning to fulfill library mission.
  3. Conduct performance reviews for professional service.
  4. Administer library committees to design policies.
  5. Design and implement digital systems for optimal operations.
  6. Support staff and patrons in system usage.
  7. Manage disaster recovery plans for system security.
  8. Test and implement system upgrades and installations.
  9. Provide input for departmental budget allocation.
  10. Administer integrated library systems for service delivery.
  11. Extract management data for decision-making.
  12. Collaborate on implementing technologies for service improvement.
  13. Develop training and documentation for efficient software use.
  14.  Provide input for departmental budget allocation.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

For appointment to this grade, one MUST have:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in library and information studies (IT Option) or related field.
  2. Be registered to a professional body.
  3. Proficiency in library management systems design and implementation. 
  4. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.

  1.   2. Applicants with degrees from foreign Universities MUST attach letter(s) of recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE) as part of the application document.
  3. Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted and shall be required to ask three (3) of their referees to share references directly to the University using a system mechanism that shall be provided.
  4. Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya will be upheld and any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
Note that the Terms of Service will be either Permanent and Pensionable OR Contract, as shall be determined by the University Council.
