Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Build responsive, accessible Single Page Applications (SPAs) using modern frameworks (React.js, Vue.js, or Angular) for frontend development.
  2. Develop scalable microservices and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), or Java (Spring Boot).
  3. Maintain code repositories (Git/GitLab), write automated unit and integration tests, and manage deployment pipelines as part of DevOps and CI/CD.
  4. Design efficient schemas for relational (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases.
  5. Apply OWASP Top 10 security standards to ensure secure coding practices and prevent vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and XSS.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

For appointment to this grade, one MUST have:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from an accredited and recognised University is required.
  2. Minimum of six (3) years of proven hands-on experience in full stack development is essential.
  3. Portfolio of deployed web/mobile applications is mandatory.
  4. Knowledge is required of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery).
  5. Knowledge is necessary for multiple back-end languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript frameworks, Angular, React and Node.js.
  6. Familiarity is required with databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, web servers, Apache and UI/UX design.
  7. Outstanding organisational skills and a meticulous attention to detail in design, coding and implementation are essential.
  8. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are necessary.

Essential Professional Certifications

 Relevant Professional Certifications including:

  1. AWS Certified Developer - Associate qualification OR Azure Developer Associate qualification.
  2. PCAP (Python) qualification OR Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE Developer qualification.
  3. Meta Front-End Developer Professional Certificate qualification.
  4. CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) qualification.
  5. Docker Certified Associate (DCA) qualification.
  6. (ISC) CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional) qualification.
