Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The duties and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

  2. Manage the end-to-end operations of the LMS (Moodle/Canvas/Blackboard), including course provisioning, user management, and plugin integration.
  3. Collaborate with faculty to design SCORM/xAPI compliant content, ensuring all digital materials meet Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
  4. Deploy AI-driven helpdesk bots to handle routine LMS queries, and manage Tier 2/3 technical support for live classes.
  5. Moderate forums and implement gamification strategies (badges, leaderboards) to increase learner engagement.
  6. Pursue professional development and implement innovative strategies to enhance online education.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  1. For appointment to this grade, one MUST have:

  2. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Business IT or a related field from an accredited and recognized University is required.
  3. Deep expertise in Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard is necessary.
  4. Competence is necessary in eLearning Standards including SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can), and LTI integrations.
  5. A balance is required between team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others' views.
  6. Strong empathy, customer service orientation, and instructional design basics are essential.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

For appointment to this grade, one MUST have:
Must Have
  1.  Relevant Professional Certifications including:

  2. Moodle Educator Certificate (MEC) qualification OR Blackboard Certified Specialist qualification.
  3. ITIL 4 Foundation qualification for Service Management.
  4. CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) qualification.
  5. Google UX Design Professional Certificate qualification.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

  1. All applications should be submitted with an Application Letter, a detailed Curriculum Vitae indicating academic qualifications, professional experience, academic leadership, list of publications, awards, scholarships, funding, membership to professional associations or bodies and linkages, valid email addresses, telephone contacts, copies of certificates, National ID, and other testimonials; These shall be uploaded at the relevant attachment sections within the OUK recruitment portal.
  2. Applicants with degrees from foreign Universities MUST attach letter(s) of recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE) as part of the application document.
  3. Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted and shall be required to ask three (3) of their referees to share references directly to the University using a system mechanism that shall be provided.
  4. Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya will be upheld and any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
Note that the Terms of Service will be either Permanent and Pensionable OR Contract, as shall be determined by the University Council.
