Course Overview
This course equips school leaders and teachers with practical knowledge and strategies for promoting safe, stable, and supportive school environments.
It focuses on identifying and addressing the causes and early warning signs of student unrest, applying effective prevention and de-escalation approaches, managing incidents appropriately, and supporting recovery after disruption.
Participants will strengthen their capacity to promote student welfare, improve communication and engagement, manage conflict, protect the school community, and build resilient institutions that sustain effective teaching and learning.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and respond early to school stability concerns by recognising emerging risks and warning signs before they escalate.
- Improve student communication and welfare systems to strengthen engagement, responsiveness and support for learners.
- Strengthen crisis preparedness and response through practical approaches for preventing, de-escalating and managing incidents of student unrest.
- Build trust, belonging, and a positive school climate that promotes student wellbeing, responsible behaviour and stronger relationships within the school community.
- Develop practical leadership tools for your school through the preparation of a Leadership Toolkit and an Integrated School Stability and Student Welfare Action Plan to support continuous improvement and sustainable school stability.
