Mahitaji ya kujiunga
- Applicants seeking admission for the Masters programme should hold a relevant Bachelor's degree recognized by the OUK Senate.
- OR a relevant postgraduate diploma from OUK or any institution recognized by OUK Senate.
- A candidate who has obtained a Bachelor's Degree with at least a 2nd Class Honors, Upper Division of Open University of Kenya; or a Degree or an equivalent qualification from other institutions recognized by the University Senate as of comparable academic status to Open University of Kenya; or a Bachelor's Degree (2nd Class Honors, Lower Division) with two (2) years' experience in a relevant field.
- Any other qualifications that may be determined by Senate recognising prior learning leading to equivalents of the identified criteria, experience and skills of learners.

Muundo wa programu
The programme shall be offered in terms of units, covered in a total of four semesters (2 years). A total of 55 credit units (750 instructional hours) is required for graduation, comprising thirty (40) units of course work, two (2) units of proposal writing and fifteen (15) units for thesis writing. In the First Semester candidates take a minimum of five (5) courses comprising two (2) common core courses and three (3) courses from areas of specialization; in the Second Semester candidates take a minimum of five (5) courses comprising two (2) core courses and three (3) courses from areas of specialization; in the third and fourth semesters candidates take fifteen (15) units comprising research thesis writing. All candidates take the required four (4) core courses and six (6) courses in each area of specialization.

Candidates shall be required to pass in all the prescribed courses in a given programme. The pass mark shall be 50%. Assessment at the end of the course work shall consist of:
- a written examination which shall normally constitute 50% of the total marks in each course; and
- continuous assessment based on Assignments, Quizzes, case studies, essays, virtual laboratory and workshop practices and such other tests as may be prescribed by the department, which shall normally constitute 50% of the total marks. A candidate who, for reasons such as sickness or bereavement, fails to sit an examination shall be allowed to sit a Special Examination. Students are free to take extra courses on offer, over and above the required number of units and shall normally be given a grade that shall reflect on their transcripts. Grading system: 75 - 100 marks = A
